Overseas Property InvestmentInvest in Property in Australia

The Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) of Australia have certain requirements for property and real estate investment for overseas buyers (i.e. non-Australian residents/citizens).

We won't try to cover them all here and suggest you visit their website for specific details, but here are the basics as of January 2011.

The overall motivation of the FIRB is to ensure that any foreign investment in Australian real estate will provide an increased volume and quality of residences for people living in Australia. This is great for foreign investors because it provides plenty of investment opportunities. You can easily invest in:
  • Brand new proprties from builders/developers as long as the property has not been inhabited for any more than 12 months.
  • Existing properties for redevelopment such as subdivisions and building extra dwellings on the block. (According to the standard rules, the original dwelling must be demolished and all new dwellings constructed.)
  • Vacant land for the development of new dwellings
As you can see, there are lots of options to choose from and we can help you identify which is best for you to meet your goals. We'll also help guide you through the application process for foreign investors and act as your local representatives if you wish.

If you like the idea of developing properties, we can also project manage the process and connect you with highly professional, tried and tested experts.
